Had a dream about a new loophole.

Last night i had one of those super realistic dreams where you wake up and it takes a second to realise you were drraming.

In my dream i had bought a 223 rimfire kit from some ammo manufacture. They started producing 223 rimfire ammo and then a new barrel and bolt for cali residents.

Would that even be possible/legal or is my subconscious just telling me to get the hell out of this state.

223 pressures are too high for rimfire. A case thin enough to crush with a firing pin cannot contain CF pressures.

Taking the .17 WSM as a practical upper limit on rimfire pressures, I went and perused SAAMI tables to find other rifle cartridges in the same range.

.17 WSM MAP is listed at 33,000 psi.

.25-20, 86gr = 28,000
.30 Rem, 170gr = 35,000
.303 Sav, 190gr = 34,000
.32-20, 100gr = 16,000
.32-40, 165gr = 30,000
.35 Rem, 150/200gr = 35,000

There several others which started out as BP cartridges that are in the same pressure range.

I thought this one was interesting:

.470 Nitro Express, 500gr = 35,000

the law clearly says rimfire is exempted.
