Anyone do it?
I do on my days off. I run through possible scenarios of intruders in every nook of my property. My wife thinks I over do it but one can never be too prepared.
The reason I bring this up is that last night as I was watching the Dodgers/Astros game, my 6 year old came running to me and said he heard a man's voice outside his room. Of course I was like wtf, grabbed the closest firearm and proceeded to investigate. I didn't find anything. I look at my phone and connected to my DVR and found no alarms or anything. By the way, it's good to always have your phone next to you if you have video surveillance. Turns out the voices he heard from from my neighbor who was watching the game leaned up against the opposite side of our perimeter wall.
Anyways, we have a code word at home. The word is "cat". We don't have a cat. But I instructed my wife and son to say, "Jay did you feed the cat, he's meowing in the kitchen." That basically means there's a possible intruder in the kitchen. I tell them not to scream or freak out. Doing so is a give away to your location and that you have alerted him.
6 years ago I had a jackass family member who went to my backyard and decided to sneak in thru the back door. I couldn't get to my SG after hearing the noise he made. I grabbed the next best thing and that was my machete under the couch. That family member is lucky he moves fast because he could have lost a limb if my swing made contact with him. He was as pale as snow and nearly crapped in his pants. Now when he visits, he calls before pulling into my driveway.
