What's a decent flat top upper, and where from?

I've got a RAW AR with standard iron sights and fixed carry handle. It mostly sits these days.

I am taking a pistol/carbine class in the spring and am thinking about putting a flat top and a red dot on my lower for the class.

I haven't looked hard at the AR platform since I bought one. What's a decent mfr, and is a plain Jane flat top what I want for this class? 16", 18"?

I will keep it that way. I don't have a red dot on it now because of the configuration.

I picked up a 16" Stoner upper from Midway USA for around $200. Has the standard A2 front sight, I put a fold down Magpul sight and an old Tasco pro point that I had laying around. Eventually I'll get a better red dot, but no rush it works fine. It's not a tack driver by any means, but it is fine for what I need.
