    Sig Sauer P226 Hair Trigger?

Bay Area case, now "Sanctuary City" fodder, involves undocumented person, a stolen gun, an East Bay native and a fatal shooting on SF pier.

So according to the Defense Attorney, the Sig P226 is known to have a freakishly light "Hair Trigger". This is why the Illegal that killed Kate Steinle accidentally shot her. It's the Gun's fault. "Bad Gun"!
Really? I have a Sig P226. In Double action mode it's gotta be about 11 Lbs. In single action mode it's still 4.5 to 5 Lbs.
Still, I'm sure there will be some "Gun Expert" that will testify that "Yes, it's a know fact that Sig Sauer P226 have hair triggers".

B.S. on the defense attorney. I am an expert witness in California Superior Court regarding Sig Sauer handguns (among other guns) and as long as the handgun in question has not been altered from its factory specifications, the "hair trigger" argument is baloney.

Hard to believe that the gov would be issuing a firearm with a "freakishly light trigger". Would make lawsuits too easy.

More likely the attorney is preying on the ignorance of the jurors. Look at what our politicians and media spew as fact regarding firearms.

It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters." -Daniel Webster

        What an azzhat...

Gonzalez, the defense atty, however, said the gun is designed for use as an emergency backup weapon by law enforcement. It does not have a safety switch and is known to have a "hair trigger," making it "inherently dangerous" for
anyone without training to handle it, he said.
a back-up weapon? A 226? The guy is an idiot.

He must be talking about Mexican police where their primary is an M249 in the back of an F150.

Hmm... I wonder if someone will point out that even the SFPD uses the P226 as our standard issue sidearm? Used to be both the P229R and P226R, but we are transitioning away from the P229 last I heard and everyone is getting the "hair trigger" P226. I was under the impression that it was a 11-12 lbs on the DA pull and around a 5 lbs SA trigger pull...

He meant back-up weapon for tank drivers.

Which Sig was involved? It keeps changing.

But yeah the old “it just went off” is so full of BS. The defense attorney is so slimy, every time is hear him talk I’d like to punch him in the mouth.

I worked right on the border with TJ some years ago and one time we had to pull the graveyard shift for a week due to crew scheduling. One night we were right at the beach across from the bullring and there were trucks with machine guns mounted in the bed patrolling the area. Freaky!

I once got splashed by a German mittlerer minenwerfer near the Meuse river but that was in another life.

Was a finger on the trigger or no?

If yes, then you have no case here.

If no, I call BS and the gun would be subject to the scientific method for testing.

It was a P239 not a P226. Get your "facts" straight.
