To whom should I leave my...

registered AW's with after my death? Sounds like a silly question but I was thinking about it. I'm not married, no children, no brothers, no sisters. My mother is still alive but she won't want them. Maybe I could put in my last will and testament a friend I could give them to. Or maybe a member of Calguns at least I know they'll be used instead of sitting in closet or safe collecting dust(or spiders). What are my options

With SB23 guns you can't give them to anyone in CA, I don't know if the same is true for RR AWs. Make a friend out of state, or will them to the NRA/CRPA
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

SB23 guns? Are those the neutered AW's like the semi-auto AK's with thumbhole stock and the colt sporters without flash hider/bayonet lug?

I'm not a lawyer, neither do I play one on TV, but you might want to consult a lawyer about this and perhaps draw up a will. If you happen to leave this planet without one, your estate may end up going the government, guns and all.

You might want to talk to Bruce Colodny, one of the firearms lawyers for the CRPA: http://www.gunlaw.com/

I just want mine to go anywhere except melted down as scrap metal, as most anti-gun bigots/idiots want of ALL guns!

When I emailed Bruce Colodny his reply was as follow's:

Under current California Law, registered assault weapons cannot be transferred to California residents, even by will. If your beneficiaries reside in a state other than California that does not prohibit civilian acquisition of assault weapons, you administrator or executor has 90 days or such additional time as the probate court may allow to accomplish the transfer. The registered assault weapons will have to be shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) whose business premises are located in the state where the beneficiary has their residence and the FFL must transfer the assault weapons to the beneficiary in the same manner as though the beneficiary was buying a firearm from the FFL’s inventory.

So it basically looks like a no go. I've emailed him asking about donating my AW's to the NRA or some other pro-gun group. Hopefully that might work.

HEADLINE: Department of Justice Exhumes Body

Supreme Commandant Lockyer explained, "You never know when some unsuspecting child might dig up a body and find an assault weapon. This is clearly a public safety issue."

Other headline: "Dead bodies proving to be source of weapons for gangs"

In a strange twist, former gun owners who were asked to be buried with their hobby items are finding their remains being dug up by desperate gang members seeking weapons to conduct their nefarious business. "Sure, they're a little dusty and smell funny, but they work, and they get the job done," Billy Bob Gangsta was heard saying at one recent graveyard excursion.

                    Hmmm..

Actually, if you don't have friends & relatives that want to accept (or don't have relatives who can legally accept) your guns when you get Hit by the Big Bus, leave them to the NRA.

They'll at least be able to acquire & dispose of them legally to gunnies and will get some $$ to fight the pinko grabbers...

Just do what Saddam did when he was forced to go into hiding... give them to Syria.

The sad new is that by the time I die the state will have already confiscated all of my AW's because of new laws banning firearms and the repeal of the 2nd amendment.

I second the NRA. How old are you? Are you in good health? I expect to preceed my wife and she knows exactly who gets each of my guns when I die. She, of course, gets first dibbs and after that works my list.

I would make sure any gun you left me would be put to good use. My FFL is Mustang Range in Reno NV. In NV we can even have class three weapons. In fact Saturday a week, June 18, 2005 is the next Machinegun Shoot at the Mustang Range. I will be instructing at the range that has the Uzzui, the M16 and the Glock 18. Ask anyone in a red Mustang shirt where that is. If you want free passes just PM me.
