    BLM Standard Issue handgun?

On the news, I was watching reporting on the Steinle case, and the defense attorney claiming that the Sig used to kill her has a "hair trigger" and was super easy to just go off by accident because it doesn't have a safety.

Whether it's a DA/SA or DAK trigger, either way the claim is absurd. However, it made me curious about what type of handgun it was, exactly. Does anyone know what the standard issue firearm(s) for Bureau of Land Management was at the time? I'm thinking P229DAK in .40 since many federal agencies issued these, but after searching I couldn't find any definitive answer.

In this statement, BLM doesn't specifically identify the model. Anyone have a pointer or link, or know what the standard issue guns were, then and now, and can satisfy my curiosity?

The only way that Sig would have a "hair" trigger is if someone modified the sear, the sear notch on the hammer or both. None of those are licensed or granted by Sig Sauer. The double/single pulls should be about 11 and 4.5 lbs respectively (give or take a bit). This is why we do an inspection of each and every handgun used in any officer-involved shoots at this department. The claim by the defense is either specious OR somebody did modifications that are forbidden by Sig.

The only BLM guy I know carries a Glock, so maybe they have a whole list of approved pistols to choose from.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

It was a .40cal Sig P239. I saw a pic of it on TV. Dont know if it was DAK or DA/SA.

          this is absolutely insane:

          - illegal alien
          - recently arrested and released
          - arrest not reported to feds because SF has a policy to protect their illegal alien criminals
          - illegal alien criminal says he was trying to shoot a seal. on a crowded pier. right.

you or i would be locked up for years for discharging a firearm in a public space, even if we weren't aiming at anyone and didn't hit anyone. i hate san francisco.
          my Benitez goes to 11

Based on that drawing, "unlabeled decocking lever" and "4.4 pound trigger" (in SA mode), I'd guess it was a DA/SA.

The DAK has no decocker, and a 6.5 lb trigger pull.

Maybe this was the backup weapon that's issued to BLM per the link I posted earlier?

It's worse than that. I can't speak about it publically, but I have a personal connection to this incident, or rather to the events leading up to it. The police have all statements, so this is not news to them but the perp definitely intended to inflict harm or kill someone that day.
