        Here's the actual report:

The above linked post cherry picks data in an attempt to make a point.
And be careful with table 12. For instance, it only shows 3 homicides in Alabama, am artifact of the filter used to derive Table 12. In actual fact there were 407 murders in Alabama in 2016.

Table shows total handgun murders = 7105 with 930 from CA.

And an additional 3263 nationwide from firearms type unknown.

          1806 from weapons "other"

Total firearms murders in CA = 1368 (of 1930 total murders) = about 70%

So CA, with the toughest firearms laws in the country, still has the highest number of murders related to firearms!

Yeah, but do you think that maybe that raw number being high has anything to do with the fact that we have 12% of the total population of the US?? Sort of like there are more murders in LA than in Lodi.

That's why the murder rate, or murders per 100,000 population is a better number to look at. California is around 4.8 per 100,000.

The rates very from 1.1 per 100,000 in New Hampshire to 24.2 in DC.

BTW, California had about 11% of the total firearm murders with just over 12% of the population of the US.

All this money spent on promoting gun control but the No. 3 cause of death in America is medical errors.
