Why do you always see those great big battleship guns being elevated? Do you think the shell aimed horizontal will hit at the same time the shell aimed at 45 degrees if both rounds are fired simultaneously ?

How did those guys ever figure this out before the invention of the Inner-Web?

I'm kinda shocked this is still going ,I would explain it again but anyone who doesn't understand my post and others who tried to explain how gravity works on a horizontal plane not conture are not smart enough to roll down a hill so why waste time explaining.

This is Calguns, of course it's still going on. As I said in post 4 it's a right triangle problem, others have come along and explained it better with good diagrams.

Apparently entry level physics is not studied by nearly enough shooters.

Randall's method, on the first page of this thread, is the way to go as long as you have a way to accurately measure angle from the horizontal (a clinometer).

That's the idea.

The trick is know how much lower to aim, than what your sights are telling you. That's where knowing the exact angle of inclination, or declination, and using the factor from a table, will allow you to calculate accurately how much to adjust POA to achieve the desired POI.
