    Hello,

I am new to all this build your own thing.

If you have the tools, do an 80% lower. I prefer the ones from tactical machining, but there are dozens of reputable manufacturers out there.

If not, just get whatever your lgs has in stock. The lower is a low stress part, so there really isn't a huge difference between them all. As long as it's aluminum it'll be fine. Stay away from the polymer lowers. They work, most of the time, but I wouldn't trust them for long term unless it's going to be a rim fire rifle.

The Gun range in north highlands has Anderson lowers for 49.95 Start there and then pick up a build kit with a complete upper and parts kit from PSA. Then after you have assembled that and like it you will know what its like and can branch out into higher quality parts and go deeper into the actual building.

Anderson is a great lower if you want a 100% lower. Or Spikes if you want to splurge for colorfill Hk style selector markings, I love those - but they are at least double the price of Anderson.

TM (Tactical Machining) is a great 80% lower, but it will cost you the price of two or three Andersons to complete one, and that's if you get it right the first time.

Just my opinion but always buy 2 or 3 lowers at the same time. Stuff a couple
In your safe for future featureless builds.

          Be well

True, but everyone always gets a kick out of the roll mark/selector stuff. When a build usually runs me around $700-900 sans optics it's worth it to me to pay an extra $50 for the flair.

Don't do a 80% for your first build just go down to your local store and see what lowers they have in stock. A lower is a lower.

The things you need to worry about are your barrel and trigger. They will make the biggest differences on your gun.

Here's a good kit to start with Harley. I have one of these uppers and it runs like a raped ape. 1500 rounds in the last year with no issues. To make it featureless you have to pin the stock in the position you like, install kydex fin on the grip (or buy a hammerhead grip), and swap the flash hider for a muzzle brake. After all is said and done, you will have a good starter rifle for under $600.
