    stupid question

I have a stupid question because I am basically computer illiterate. Is there any place or person who for a fee will help registering 7 AW's? My old computer is junk and I have no camera to record pics.

Thread moved, not a question about legality.

I suggest waiting a while and watching these forums. The two issues that you say are preventing you from registering are points mentioned in legal challenges to the new law. Not going to be enforced until 7/1/2018 at the earliest anyway so you have time. Be patient.

Dang, where were you when CRPA was looking for plaintiffs for the AW registration lawsuit, you'd have been a perfect fit.

Anyways, I know of no such service that would help you with this, and frankly I wouldn't trust it even if it existed. Messing up on the application has the potential to cause you a world of hurt.

Perhaps post your locality here, and offer a local calgunner a case of beer if they'll come help you take photos and fill out your applications

        ^ And what he said.

Also, if you haven't read the registration guide, check it out. It's sort of a start-to-finish guide to the whole process, in case you're not already familiar with it.

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I have an idea. Why dont we take a flash drive to our local library and and rent a computer There. Make sure to ask for help. When they call the police explain to them that you are complying with a bs law.

On a real note. I am sure someone will help you for one beer/AW. If you are near me i will.

Well, I'm not going to argue about it being a stupid question.

It's interesting to hear how many people are in your exact same situation. I live out in the sticks, and am surrounded by retirees who have gun collections. When we get together for BBQs, this topic comes up all the time. The typical response from everyone is "that's way too complicated for me, as far as I'm concerned I'm already compliant with the law, so I'm not going to do anything because this all sounds way too stupid to be real."

It's amazing how angry people get when I try to explain the new law. I end up just shutting up and telling them to do a Google search on it - and they say "a what?".

You can give them to me an I'll take them to my place in Northern Idaho. You can use them anytime you visit.
But you might not leave the area once you see it.

I've noticed the same. The fact is, there's no easy way to explain the process to anyone. I still don't totally understand it all. DOJ doesn't even understand it all, they're more confused than most of us are.

My advice I've been giving people is the same as what others have said above - exercise patience, and just wait and see where things go. There are just way too many unresolved variables right now.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that there's at least an injunction that delays it for a few years. Registering may not sound like a horrible thing to some people (especially those who don't want to go featureless) but the reality is that it's really onerous. It's a bell that can't be un-rung.

Where do you live OP? If you're near the Los Angeles / North OC area, I will help you for free.

But as C&G suggested above, there's still lots of time, I would wait until the legal challenges shake out or closer to next July. If nothing comes of the legal challenges, I am planning to register around April of next year.

Not to drag this thread too far off the rails, but there is a de-registration process that isn't very difficult to do. It's certain a lot easier than the registration process.
