Yeah, I agree. I think they would have their hands pretty full with dealing with the death and destruction.

I read something to this effect. Many of the guns were found in alleys and abandoned houses and never reclaimed by anyone. The actual number of functional guns taken away from normal folks was probably smaller.

The nay-sayers here are ignoring actual history. There is a greater than zero percent chance it will at least be tried. To say otherwise is foolish.

NOPD lied because they got caught for not returning them later. There were multiple shipping containers FULL of confiscated firearms in NO. Gun-rights folks sued, and then what was left of the guns was turned over, pretty much 100% ruined by rust and not being properly stored. I'm sure some anti-gunners in the NO city government got their jollies from that one.

Keep in mind also that NOPD was not the only agency operating in the area and taking guns.

As far as the cops being "too busy".. get real. It's already been shown that at least at the state level, they are more than happy to NOT deal with real violence problems in order to go after gun owners. APPS, anyone? Yeah, they might have some minor offense or whatever, but let's face it, they're not chasing the hard-core bad guys who might be harder to arrest.

As severe as Katrina was, it would be nothing more than a light summer rain compared to a catastrophic seismic event. Roads collapsed, hospitals in ruins, water, electrical and gas lines severed. A total collapse of infrastructure. If you honestly think that any police agency is going to be able to conduct a gun grab, then you really have no clue what the "Big One" really means.

This article is fascinating...and terrifying. The San Andreas has NOTHING on the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

When the Cascadia fault line ruptures, it could be North America’s worst natural disaster in recorded history.

But but Kalifornia has the best infastructure around, it would never be in ruins.
