    What Caliber is this Bullet?

I was sorting through my 300 BLK 125 gr bullets when I found this oddball.

    For reference from left to right: 223 Rem (55gr), 7.62x39 (123gr), 300 BLK (125gr), 300 BLK (220gr), ???

    A 300 grain 338? How's the diameter compared to the 300?

There is a .311 bullet in 220 grains but you really need to put a caliper on that to be sure.

A man without calipers doesn't measure up.

Is that the only projectile you found that's unkown? Throw it away, it's only 20 cents, and move on with life.

If you have many of them, why didn't you mark the container?
Can't you make some more measurements, and search around, or report back if you are truly stumped?

                    I was merely curious.

                        What caliber is a .308" caliber bullet? It's .308

That's the way that caliber works, it's the diameter.

There are a few 220 grain .308 caliber bullets made although most are match bullets with boattails for long range shooting in the 300 magnum rifles. There are also plain base bullets made for the suppressed 300 Blackout.
