    CHP mag drop

Was watching the end of this pursuit and the one officer with a rifle dropped what appeared to be a magazine. If you can find the video online, you'll see he also swept his fellow lawmen as well more than once.

Many police aren't well versed in their firearms. Some are very knowledgeable. You'd be surprised how little training is offered to officers and how little ammo is supplied. Same thing with many people in the military.

I'm sure if more practice was available they would take it.

      typical.

It also happens in the military.

Less so in the military because you have to qualify now or you are sent packing. So folks in the military know how to use a firearm. Local police get tested maybe once a year and get many chances if they fail. That's out of state local police.

So I would say more so of local police over everyone else.

When I see a 22 year old cop I always say to myself they have no clue on true war situational awareness or how to use their sidearm properly. They can train all they want but until 50 caliber rounds fly by their head they will truly have no clue.
It's true for out of state local police. We see it all the time.

so an officer makes a mistake and you're here to call him out on it publicly while you hide behind a screen name?

            keep it classy, OP

Speaking of screen names (which I obviously have no issue with) I like yours!!

dropping the mag is a w/e. people do it, even at competitions. stress makes mistakes happen.

sweeping the muzzle past fellow officers, that is the only true egregious act. that is putting people lives in danger due to poor training and that shouldn't be happening.

Especially since removing the magazine is part of the clear/make safe process.
Urban legends are a poor basis for making public policy.

Nope. Yer right. Ain't no 22 year old that's ever been to war, and they damned sure can't hold a handgun without blowing their leg off. Seen it happen with every single one of 'em that ever laid their booger hook on a bang switch! And damn those 30 caliber bullets, you can get shot at by those all day long and not even break a sweat, hell, barely even notice it!
And if you're "out of state"...which, apparently, means everywhere except for maine and oregon, but alternatively could mean either one of those depending on where you're at, yer worthless too. Got it. Good call buddy.

Welcome to the real world. People get swept by firearms and you may even sweep yourself. As long as no more than one of the four safety rules are violated at the same time, everything will be fine.
