Beretta 92 & wilson combat recoil buffer, had mixed results

So today wife & I go to indoor range once again to shoot her EMP (AWESOME)
    & my new Beretta 92FS.

We won't be talking about the EMP as it's her gun, an she shoots it great 8/9 &10 ring mostly. No complaint's

NOTE: Last trip did not have new buffers delivered (Wilson combat blue) ( another one also didn't try) so first time with them..

First off let the wife shoot Beretta (after she burned through 2 mags in EMP) w/out the Wilson buffer installed, she did good 8-9 ring at 6oclock, one flyer.

Then I popped in buffer to have her try it out, & she shot way low, & had one Fail to load (FTL) (strip off next round), this happened only once, also last mag last shot, did not hold slide open (this also one time).

Now my turn to shoot the 92 w/buffer installed, I'm hitting 8-9 & some 10 ring, feels great !, better than ever, I have zero issues with either problem the wife had. Now pull out buffer & shooting 7-8 & a couple in 9 rings HUH.

    All this at about 6+yds.

So in the end, like others have said, I'll not use in SD mode with buffer, as she might be using it to protect herself.

But I will run it at the range once & a while, as personally, "I liked it."

Anybody else have mixed results with their buffers in their 92's format guns ?

And do you, or have you, even run recoil buffer's in those guns ?

Just my observation here, thought I'd share.

Why even run a buffer in a 92?

      Agreed.

I did buy a slide rod that was supposed to act like a buffer. It made racking the slide difficult and I threw it away.

When I purchased these, I was thinking of just reducing shock to frame/slide & maybe a little recoil management, I mean it was Wilson Combat, right !

But with this Fail, even though only happened once each, & only to one shooter, it will only be used by me from time to time at the range. As I hate to throw anything away.

This post may help someone else, Idk.

You know, we all buy some weird stuff, & not all of it works out, this is an example of that.

Was just sharing with CG, as that is what all of you guy's do.

        Have a good day !

Good lookin out ~ To often companies create a fix for a non-problem! Don't worry about your 92, it was designed to take it......

Exactly, no worries. There was a guy on BerettaForum.net from Switzerland selling slide buffers that were rubber and snapped over the slide rod and spring. I don't get it.

I had 2 90-Twos that had a recoil buffer built into the frame. They did work, but it was a subtle improvement. Same deal with the 92A1. Not a big deal. I sold the 90-Twos due to the incredibly slick grip which could not be fixed. They looked cool though. I have often pondered getting a 92/96A1, but they are off roster, and not worth the price folks are asking for them.

            Take care !

It can be fixed and it's easy. Grip tape, it works wonders on Berettas. I assume Talon has prefabbed stuff for them, I just use industrial traction tape and cut to fit. Do the front & back strap and that baby sticks to your hand. I also add a piece to the front of the trigger guards.
