    Pinned and welded flash hider

Does a pinned and welded flash hider remain a flash hider or does it become part of the barrel?

In our state I becomes an "assault flash hider" and you have to attach a strobe light to the weapon to make up for it. LOL. I don't know...

      Two seperate items...

      A barrel
      A flash hider

Flash hiders do not need to be pinned... they do not need to be welded....

If you have a barrel under 16" then welding a device can get you to a legal length. If you have a rifle that is too shot OAL, same thing....

Once an evil feature.... always and evil feature....

Plus you could mill a flash hider into a barrel....
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

Only welded/pinned if necessary to achieve 16 inch minimum rifle barrel length. a flash hider is always an evil feature in ca.

It remains a flash hider regardless of how it was attached to the barrel.

              Right, so
              1. A flash hider milled into the end of a barrel, would be a barrel.
              2. Would A flash hider that does not need to be pinned and welded, that was pinned and welded, still be a flash hider or just more barrel?

              3. A flash hider pinned and welded on a 14.5" barrel is concidered "more barrel" to get beyond the 16" min.

And once it becomes part of the barrel, there is no point of reference, from which flash can be reduced.

Pin it, weld it, then fill-in the bottom holes/slots with Liquid Metal and re-christen it "muzzle brake."

                  1. And also a flash hider.
                  2. Still a flash hider.
                  3. Also a flash hider.

Attachment method has nothing to do with it being or not being a flash hider.
                  Hiding/suppressing flash makes it a flash hider/suppressor.

There is actually very interesting deposition testimony available online from one of CRPA's lawsuits against the State. The state's firearms PMK was being questioned on the difference between a barrel, flash suppressor, and muzzle brake.
