One (LC380) is bigger than the other (LCP).

One (LC380) is listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale and the other is off-Roster (LCP).

One (LC380) can be converted to 9x19mm and the other can not (LCP).

What is the purpose of the handgun?
^Conceal carry, range gun, home defense, training, etc.

AND .22 conversion too. I have an lc.380 with the 9 and .22 conversion. It is a nice system with a fair, at best, trigger.

I carry an LCP all the time. If you're entertaining an LC-380 why not just get an LC-9? They're about the same size. I had an LC9 for a while and it was a nice carry gun.

What sold me on the LCP is that it's almost as small as my .25 acp.

LCP no-dash (gen 2) is my favorite 'carry around the house' gun. Slips anywhere on you. No nanny state 'features'.

If you were thinking of a LC380, may as well get LC9 - same size.

Depends on what you want it for. The LCP is a great pocket gun, where the LC380 or LC9 are bigger and heavier. The LC9 is close in size to the S&W Shield in 9mm.

I am looking for a carry gun. My EDC is a S&W 442. Just want to add a semi auto. I had a Bersa thunder 380 but sold it years ago.

For conceal carry, get the LCP or LCP II.

Ruger LCP = DAO hammer fired
                    overall length: 5.16" / height: 3.60" / weight: 9.6oz

Ruger LCP II = "SAO" striker fired
                    overall length: 5.17" / height: 3.71" weight: 10.6oz

For a Californian the LC is on roster and you can buy the 9 mm parts. So I would say buy the LC and the 9mm parts. If you have problems with it and Ruger needs to replace it then you can. With the lcp since not on roster you are out of luck.
By the way some lcps have had takedown pin walk out with the frame insert (serial no part) wallowed such that the pistol had to be replaced. This happened to one of my lcp gen 2 stainless after only three magazines when new. I live in NC now so it was no problem getting a replacement. In CA I would not have been able to get the replacement lcp.
                          Just for consideration.
