In addition to the twist rate not being optimal when just changing the bolt, who has experience with feed and eject reliability for the conversion kit with a 22lr magazine?

Ive been able to get good reliability with the right mag and ammo in my complete rim fire uppers.

Bolt hold open after last shoot is another feature to consider.

Don't waste time when the 15-22 is so good. Check my sig.

Mine is featureless because it could shoot centerfire. That also helps prevent questions.
I shoot a Ciener conversion out of a 1:8 match A2 and at 25 yards it is the most accurate rifle I own. I use Wolf Match or the CCI AR Tactical and with the match carry handle I'll put it up against any dedicated upper at that distance.

Rifle is ok, the magazines may be the best in the business. If one were to get a dedicated .22LR, the 15-22 is it.

Mine is a non-chromed 1/9 twist. It does about 3~4 moa at 100 yards with Federal Automatch. Lapula match does better. None of my other barrels are close, including match grade SS and a Criterion Wylde that does great with 5.56.

I did a bit of work the the Ciener. When I got it new years ago it would foul and clogg with lead. I sent it back to them for a test and they said it was GTG.

I dissasembled it and polished the feed ramps, chamber and rails. With Slip 2000 EWL it runs like a champ.

I'll have to try doing that to my Ciener. I get missfeed or FTE every other magazine either using Black Dogs or the weird looking little Ciener mag. The accuracy is astonishing enough that I've managed to overlook that nagging problem

I ordered a CMMG conversion kit from Midway for $150.00 shipping included for one of my AR's. It just dawned on me that I have enough spare parts laying around to build a 22 AR with all the evil features. The CMMG kit is totally self contained recoil operated. If I were to build it leaving out the AR gas tube and buffer assembly, do you gents think it would be legal in the eyes of the law?

I would interested to convert one to a 17 WSM. Not willing to pay $1,100 for the Franklin Armory upper though. Anyone else make a budget upper for this caliber?

Depends on your definition of budget, but these guys make both 17 and 22 rimfire magnum uppers.
