Flying with OLL to AZ

So I tried to use the search to find info but didn't come up with anything.
Friday I'm flying to Tucson to go visit my buddy and go to the gun show. I am bringing my OLL AR and wated to know the best way to transport pre-ban 30 round mags. Is it most hassle free to just strip them down and put 'em in a bag in my suit case or do they need to be in the gun case with my AR? Thanks for you help.

Leave them here. Buy some mags when you get to AZ and send them back to yourself as repair kits.

I'd rather not have to buy more mags as they have become more expensive and I already own plenty pre-bans as well as have a number of repair kits.

Take your repair kits then. If you take your prebans you'll have to either destroy or permanently disassemble them upon return to CA. That would be super bad and an angel will cry.

My understanding is that as long as you owned them and were in California before the ban. You can do with them as you like. Take them with you and bring them back with you.

I don't think that this is correct. They can be possessed in state only if they were imported prior to the ban. However, if he takes them out of state, then brings them back, he will be importing them again and a felon

Just take the rebuild kits to be sure, assemble them there and disassemble before coming back. It's the only way to be sure and not deplete your Unobtanium magazines.
