    NSSF explanation

    QUICK FACTS

A Minute of Angle (MOA) is an angular measurement.

    A MOA is 1/60th of a degree.

1 MOA spreads about 1″ per 100 yards. (actually 1.047″)

1 MOA is a different size at different distances, 8″ at 800 yards is still just 1 MOA.

So a 2 MOA reticle is 2" between tick marks at 100 yards.

In red dot terms, it means that the red dot is @2.1" in diameter at 100 yards.

Think clock. You're at the center. So that's how 1 moa is increases in a linear fashion as you get further from your starting point (you). It's part of a circle.

Great write up. But the key to all this is applying it in an UNCONTROLLABLE ENVIRONMENT. Wind conditions.
