    New mossberg 500 forend play

Just got a new Mossberg 500, my first gun purchase. There is a little bit of play in the forend and from what I've read it's normal, but others seem to talk about play from side to side. Mine goes a front and back 1/16 of an inch and side to side a little bit. My friends 870 is rock solid. This is all normal for a 500 right?

    Here's what it does:

Normal. Both my 500's in 12 and 20ga. No problem. Like you mentioned, My 870 Wingmaster is solid. Just a side note: Just got back from dove hunting with the 500 20ga and the 870WM, also 20ga. Both worked flawlessly and brought down some dove. Your gun is fine.

If it don't rattle, it ain't a mossy.

You'll learn to accept it. I trust a mossberg with my families lives.

Make sure the barrel bolt on the end of the magazine tube is tight.
