    i may sound like a traitor but i would be fine with a 3 day wait background check on your first purchase and each subsequent purchase they would a database of people who became ineligible that should take no longer than 5 minutes

    there should be a private party system where the purchaser could call and get a temporary number that would last for 3 days that the seller could call enter the number and it would kickback the name of the person they could check the id

    i would like some form of double layer encryption so there would be no way to kick out a list of gun owners but a way to check if an individual has been cleared to own a gun and this information would in no way be proof of gun ownership and there would be no list of guns registered to that person

        In 1968, for natives, for blacks, really? Come on man. Color didn't have a damn thing to do with it. It was the government's way of control! Period! A white guy couldn't get the same gun a black man couldn't get.

                Please point out where the 2nd says anything about mentally sound, non violent, non-criminals as those who could possess firearms.

                Because you can buy a gun does not make you special, you are not better than a person who can not buy weapons and passing a BGC does not make one any less likely to commit a crime. The whole have/have nots thing is BS, and EVERY American Citizen should be allowed to purchase and own firearms, including criminals, those some of us might find less than mentally fit, poor, or otherwise "second class".

                The Founding Fathers understood this, as remember in Europe where many came from you were not allowed to hunt the Kings deer, and you were branded a criminal for many whimsical things, including the religion you sought to practice. There is a REASON why they do not say "except for criminals or those we think are not responsible enough", and it holds true to this very day.

                  I assume the felony conviction includes a forfeiture of your future rights such as voting or owning a firearm. Don't like that? Then don't commit crimes. That's a fairly simple concept to follow. That said, once you have served your time and kept out of trouble there should be a way to restore rights that doesn't cost thousands in lawyer fees.
                  Do you really believe that a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic should be allowed to own a firearm? The only schizophrenic I've dealt with in my life heard voices that told her "scary bad things". She also had hallucinations. Do you believe this person should own a firearm? Would you give or sell one of your own guns to her?

                      It was in response to the Black Panthers, because they decided to exercise their legal rights and it scared white Americans into giving up their same rights as a result. Yes, it was about color.

                      It's likely that if it was the White Panthers, the reaction and result may have been the same, but that's not how it played out.

                        That's fine, and maybe I've learned a thing or two. But I still don't believe that schizoid or psychos should be allowed to own firearms. They are more likely to "go off" on people. They also are the first to think they aren't sick and don't need medicated. As far as losing your gun ownership rights as a felon, just as voting, that's just part of doing the crime if you get caught. Doesn't matter if you've served your time, that's still part of the punishment. You know like 5 years imprisonment plus never allowed to vote again. It doesn't say serve five years, get out and you're no longer a felon.

                          You are mistaken. My rights exist because I exist, or if you prefer, were bestowed by my creator. The bill of rights was written as a set of reminders to the government of those rights they should be most careful to avoid infringing. Also:

                          Amendment IX
                          The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

                            Losing the right to bear arms


                            were BOTH designed to keep militant blacks down, but backfired on the NRA. The Founders would never have gone along with it, it is NOT what this country was founded on.

                            As far as people with psychiatric conditions, where do you draw the line? Because someone "may one day" lose it and hurt someone? That is EXACTLY the same argument the gun grabbers are using against YOU! That you, while you seem OK now, are just waiting to go off because you simply want to own a gun, that there is no telling what rage lies within your heart and so therefore you cannot be trusted to be armed, and that because you have sought out training that means you are prone to violence and are preparing to commit unforgivable sins upon the masses.
                            The worst thing is, folks that agree with "some" people not having guns are the very ones who are perfectly OK with the .gov deciding who that is.

                            No sir, I do not agree with that argument.

                            The 2nd is quite clear. EVERY AMERICAN has the RIGHT to KEEP and BEAR ARMS. That does not mean just firearms, or swords, pocketknives or tanks.

                                I work with mentally ill violent felons. They should never have guns. They would try to kill you with a spork if they could. Fully 2A but there really is a good reason some people should not be able to own guns. I know criminals can get ahold of guns but when they are caught with them it's good, they are off the street.
