    What's a nice gift?....

    Question for y'all.

My brother is at his wife's father's farm in Missouri. Her father is 93 and still works the farm, though he's finally slowing down a bit. A neighbor helps out by mowing his lawn and doing other chores around the place. And the neighbor and his wife bring him a lot of food, year round. 'Their way of checking in on him from time to time. My brother would like to give them a gift as he's done before, but this time he's thinking something gun related as this neighbor hunts White Tail deer on his father-in-law's farm and he also reloads.

I know reloading is very specialized, but there still might be something he'd appreciate. Or perhaps something hunting related? The neighbor reloads .243, .270, .30-06, and .45-70. Mostly he hunts with .243.

    Any and all ideas appreciated.

    Thanks!

A price range might help narrow down the suggestions.

At 93, you may consider something related to his well being. I.e. pay for yard service for a year or some other nuisance of daily living.

Other than that, perhaps a nice pair of binoculars or a spotting scope.
A nice heavy shooting stand to reduce some recoil off those 93 year old shoulders. A nice pair of gloves or waders.

Have your brother get one for each -- 1 for the kind neighbor, to spot whatever he's hunting; 1 for the neighbor's wife, so she can find him.

          Thanks for the suggestions.

To be clear, the father-in-law is 93 but it's the neighbor that does he hunting and for whom the gift is for. Don't know his age, but presumably considerably younger.

I know choosing a gift will be tough without more info. Perhaps there's something really unique that they've purchased or received that's out of the ordinary and really cool.

          Thanks again!

Ahhh! That makes sense! In that case reloading equipment, standby and you will have a few pros with suggestions. And that is great of your fam to do that for the them!

Check the hunting laws in Mo. Some states are shotgun only.

I was thinking a whole BIG bunch of primers because you can get something that works with different calibers, unlike a lot of other loading components like casings or bullets, etc.

( it would also be still useful in case he changes calibers at some point.)

But I think you would want to know what type/brand of primers he uses and likes and It's not that much of a unique gift like you asked for in your last posting.

Maybe a nice ride on mower.

(It's a farm in Missouri, he's probably using a tractor to mow the grass already.)

Maybe a nice scope, rifle sling or comfortable deer blind?

I have an wild idea that a farmer in Missouri is going to be reluctant to tell you what he wants for gift And that he will probably say he doesn't need or want anything.

But he might not be reluctant to tell you what gun store he uses and recommends in his area, especially if you ask him like you need the information for yourself.

No they might not have gift certificates there but you could buy something you think he might need (and at the dollar amount you want to spend) but then give the receipt at the same time and explain that he should exchange it for something he would want and that would make you all happy.

Oh I just thought of an another great idea,

A Cabelas or Bass Pro gift certificate. Or LL Bean.

You fellers are leaving someone out of the equation!
And the neighbor and his wife bring him a lot of food, year round.
I believe you should be looking for something the wife would enjoy too. She is the one that is probably saying to her husband "I haven't see _______ today, take this pie to him and see if he needs his lawn mowed." That's the way it works around here.

A nice bottle of scotch. Good for the neighbor and his wife.

That is a very valid point, Although it's not what the OP was requesting it should definitely be looked into and taken care of.

She might even open up to another woman and mention what she might like to make her / their life a little easier.

Does Ronco make a venison sausage making lawnmower machine?

I'm thinking gift card to a nice restaurant in the area, or if the wife is going to be dissed, Midway.
