(2011) AB 109 Are you safer?

Hi, I am new here and just wanted to discuss AB109 a bit, (I did a search and came up with 0 so forgive me if this has already been discussed).

I live in a community in Riverside County that has traditionally been considered very safe with very little Violent or Property crimes.

I pay close attention to all the crime blotters and news reports as well as my contacts in PD and Sheriff and I have come to the conclusion that AB109 has increased general crime in my area DRAMATICALLY, (I do not have statistics to back this up, but I have always had my finger on the "pulse" on this).

Some Law Enforcement have even stated the crime could not have been commited had the criminal not been released early.

Also of note is MANY of the "property" crime criminals have weapons with them when they commit the kindler and gentler property crimes, while we must beg grovel and navigate insane laws to defend ourselves and our family's safety.

I am only posting this as a matter of discussion as I see it happening all around my community.

What are your thoughts and experiences?

property crimes are up everywhere. And that fact that California now considers property crimes under $950 a misdemeanor has only made things worse.

I think you can blame Prop 47 and the (just about) legalization of drugs as the major factor. No one goes to jail anymore, its just a ticket. Mail theft and identity theft has gone crazy all over California.

There has been a lot of discussion here regarding AB109, which should be known as the Law Enforcement Recycling Act. Ask any honest LEO that is working the streets and they will tell you that they are arresting the same people over and over again. AB109 also makes it harder to return criminals to state prison by raising the bar on what crimes are eligible for state incarceration, regardless of a criminal's past record. While AB109 has reduced prison overcrowding, local jells are overcrowded and under federal rules (aka a Fed Kick), "non-violent" offenders like car thieves are routinely released early, again regardless of any previous violent criminal convictions.

NO ! I feel less safe, & hence have acquired a CCW sometime ago.

Now when traveling since I have this, find myself needing this for all states I travel to.

This is becoming expensive & time consuming. Do I think our leaders are right to turn lose these career criminals (to save a buck & spend it foolishly somewhere else) to continue on until they do the ultamate crime upon us.

NO !, I do however think the Democratic Party in CA are mentally incapable to do their job's, this has been painfully clear for a long time.

My take, our Government does not give a rats arse for your safety, & even less for your families/friends/kids or common joe.

So now that I EDC do I feel safer with this, NO ! but do feel I now have an option, over just being a statistic.

AB109 is an insane move to purposely endanger the public, it can be viewed no other way IMHO..

Crimes are not up everywhere. Just in those states where liberasts are in a driving seat.

I view it as a declaration of war on hard working people in this state as well as law enforcement, which will be used as justification to pass more laws limiting personal freedom as well as to raise taxes.

I vaguely know which bill is discussed, but without the year, the conversation is ambiguous.

We live in California. This is a California based forum. AB 109 is a California bill. I was referring to everywhere in California.
