    reloading question

i haven't started to reload, but i have some simple questions for everone who reloads.

    1. does it matter which manufacture of the round is? ie. remington, winchester and so on? does it require a different primer for different manufactures?

    2. does it apply to shotgun shells as well?

i'm starting to save all my brass and before i get too deep into collecting, i want to make sure i collect the correct brass. thanks.

    1. you posted in the wrong forum.

    2. Sometimes it matters and sometimes it does not with the Head Stamp and Primers being used.

    3. Don't kow if it applies to shotguns.

Congratulations on starting to save your brass.

Doesn't make any difference whether the round is a 308 Winchester made by Winchester or by Remington or by Norma. There are basically 4 primer sizes for brass cases - large rifle, small rifle, large pistol and small pistol. A 308 or 30.06, 270, etc would be large rifle primer. A 223, 22 Hornet would be small rifle. A 44 Mag, 45 ACP would be large pistol, a 38 Special or 32 S & W would be a small pistol primer.

There's a good book in about its 50th printing called "ABCs of Reloading" and it has alot of info for a beginner. Most reloading manuals - Speer, Sierra or Hornady will also have a "how to" section.
