I get they may save some weight but FFS you just killed the strongest point of the AR platform (sealed chamber of moving parts).

Why? Looks? Unless I'm missing something.

Less surface area, so it doesn't use as much Frog Lube.

Having slowness the 5.56 and he .308. Versions of the f-1 firearms rifles, I can tell you that their main purpose isn't for saving weight. They are actually roughly the same weight as a milspec counterparts given they are much thicker to support the strength needed after removing the extra material.

They do however look really cool and for people not intending its use as a battle rifle as in a range toy or competition weapon, it does he job just as fine as any other receiver and looks better doing so.

No hot gases or oils in the face while shooting either.

Now if ur the type of shooter who constantly throws their rifle on the dirt mud or snow, it's pretty obvious this won't work well for you
