    Has Anyone Received The Wrong Ammo From Cabela's?

    I placed an order from Cabela's for some 7.62x39 SP PPU Ammo and upon receiving them I got an unfortunate surprise. The bulles were not only Soft Point but Round Nose also. Doing some research I found that most people have feeding issues with the Soft Round Nose sticking on the feeding ramp. So this ammo seems to be a no go for my AK.

    The issue I'm having is after contacting Cabela's they stated that all of their info shows the ammo should be Soft Point only not Round Nose. And upon further information from me (product #'s I don't have on me at the moment) the only solution they're offering is potentially refunding me my money BUT only after taking the ammo to a local police station and having them "destroy" it. Also I need some sort of letter stating such, so that I can then show to Cabela's. Then and only then will they issue a refund.

    Now to me this seems incredibly inconvenient and horrible customer service. Has anyone had any experience with this in the past? What would the letter of destruction have to contain? Would it have to state the round count? The type (Make/Model) of ammo? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I had a friend who ordered a bunch 5.5.6 ammo from Cheaper than Dirt . They accidentally shipped a bunch of tracers to California. They refused to issue a refund all ammo sales are final Until a threat of calling the Authorities and handing them the receipt and the ammo .

          Yep happened to me, local PD was happy to take it for "destruction."

            Did you turn in "all" of your ammo for "destruction". Maybe some if not 90% of it fell off the back of your truck?

              unless that letter specify the exact amount that was destroyed, just bring half in

              or just sell off the ammo at the exact same cost, and buy again.

                Cabela's never knew what I actually received to begin with Hell, I barely knew myself, it was super oddball stuff.

                  Not Cabela's, but I've received 5.45x39 that was not as advertised from Brownells. They advertised "brass case" Wolf 5.45 that I signed up for a Back In Stock Notification. When I got the e-mail, I immediately bought a case as at the time AKFiles was humming about brass case 5.45 coming to the market.

                  Of course I got steel case Wolf 5.45, they were even even the cheapest black box Wolf instead of Military Classic which I didn't mind.

                  Brownell's issued me a prepaid shipping label and sent FedEx to pick up the ammo. I would have gladly shot all that ammo if they had let me, though.

                        Did you pay via a credit card? If so, dispute it.
                        I think I might send them a photo of the incorrect ammo to prove they sent the wrong stuff. If they sent you the wrong ammo, I would insist that they make it right since it wasn't an error on your part.

                          Never had them ship the wrong ammo, but years ago they had a deal if you bought 500 rounds of ammo they'd send you a free plastic ammo box. I bought 2,000 rounds of ammo. But instead of receiving 4 ammo boxes, I came home to a bunch of huge boxes. They sent me something like 40 ammo boxes!

                          I called them and told them about the mistake. They said just keep them. But they took up waaaay too much room. I don't have that much storage space. So they arranged to ship them back.

                            Are you sure you didn't accidentally click on Add To Cart on the SP ammo? Its right under the FMJ and is on sale. Maybe you subconsciously clicked on the SP because its on sale?

                              No I purposely clicked on the SP ammo. The problem is the site never lists it as RN ammo. And that is what I received Soft Point Round Nose ammo. That's the problem.
