Well is was wrong. I guess they are built in Portugal since 2013. That's disappointing.

I have a few new production Winchester's, a Model 70 and 1885, both are fantastic rifles. Excellent quality etc.

My Winchester/Miroku 1873 .357Mag short rifle is fantastic. But in fairness, I never tried an original Winchester. Used my friend's Rossi .357 1894 carbine and everything on it was rough. From the action to the wood stock, I understand why the Rossi 94' is an inexpensive rifle.

Yes, but it's one you don't mind beating the hell out of in the field. The problem with those fine Miroku's, is they're relegated to admiring with gloves on for 15 minutes outside of the safe. Unless you have deep pockets.

I love my Winchester/Miroku 1873. The Rossi fills the need for a low priced gun that works. The "Glock of lever guns."

IMO, Winchester should start producing 7.62x39 and 6.5G 'mini action' guns based on their WSSM action. Then they might as well produce the WSSM guns as well. This would give the public a mini-action bolt gun chambered for popular cartridges (all the rage these days) as well as perhaps re-lighting the WSSM torch. I would guess they have some leftover receivers and bolts somewhere, might as well put them to use.

Who handles repair work? I have a Model 94 Trapper that cannot open the action due to something breaking when working the lever. (currently unloaded)
