Hello all. I wish to remove the fixed polymer stock on my FM Vepr and install an aftermarket one but I have hit a problem: I stripped both screws in the rear trunnion that mount the stock to the rifle. I was able to rotate them about 6-8 times before they tightened up. I tried using a little more downward force to unscrew them but ended up stripping the screw heads.
I've done a little looking around on how to get these out, but I haven't seen any good go-to way to finish the job. I'm hesitant to try a more invasive method of removing the screws (like drilling them with a screw extractor, or cutting notches in the top with a dremel).
Obviously, I don't want to damage the trunnion or the rifle. But what would you good folks recommend on how to safely get these screws out?
I've attached a picture, it's kind of hard to see that they're stripped. But there's virtually ZERO catch with any bit I try inserting.
