    Stolen Firearms Database?

My house was recently burglarized and my firearms stolen, in this thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1356892

Other than providing the local LEO's with the serial numbers to my stolen arms (which I did), is there a seperate national database where I can register my guns as stolen?

How do LGS's/pawn shops know that the used items they buying/selling are not stolen?

I know there is a ridiculously low (/no) chance of ever seeing my babies again, but I can't help but try.

That stinks! I'm sorry that happened.
I've never used this but I saw it on another site.

HotGunz Free Stolen Firearms Database. Check a guns serial number to see if it is stolen or report your missing gun absolutely free!

Hope you get your guns back!

California has a database known as the "Automated Firearms System" or AFS. This database includes stolen, pawned, and firearms sold under the DROS record. It also includes evidence guns, destroyed guns, etc.

Gun stores have to report Pawned or used gun purchases to DOJ and local law enforcement, which is why there is a 30 day wait before used guns can be sold.

Stolen firearms are also entered into NCIC, which is a nationwide database maintained by the FBI.

Any law enforcement officer who runs the serial number of your guns will get a return from NCIC, and any California officer will also get a return from AFS.

Providing the serial numbers to the reporting agency is your best bet for getting your guns back.

Wish you the best of luck. As a LEO, it always made my day when I could recover stolen property, especially firearms.

        Sorry for your Loss,
But to answer your question , Pawn shops along with Gun Shops are required report serial numbers and descriptions of used firearms they purchase to law enforcement .
In addition they are required to hold on to those firearms for at least 30 days before reselling them .
