    Arizona Gun Laws

I plan to move to Arizona and into apartment building across the street from the university I'll be attending. The apartment building is not affiliated with the college; however, it is a building of just college students.

Is it legal for landlords in Arizona to prohibit guns in your room?
I didn't see anything in the paperwork prohibiting guns.

Also, are there any laws I should be aware of?
How does the Gun Free School Zone law apply? (e.g. Living within 1000 feet of a school)

You would be wise to not take guns with you into an environment you can not control. Drunk college kids you may or may not know with access to the apartment is a recipe for disaster. If you must have guns with you at least buy a cheap lockable metal gun cabinet to keep the guns from wandering off... Personally, I would only keep a handgun that you carry with you and is on your person when you are away from the apartment.

I don't know the laws, but the first thing I'd do is purchase a safe in that environment. Not that really anything will happen, but I'd be more concerned about one of them freaking out if they see you walking around your house with a long gun.

Arizona has the strictest Renter Gun Laws in the nation. You can't bring a firearm within 1000 yards of an apartment complex located on or near a campus. The fine is like $100,000.00 dollars or 10 years in jail or both. My cousin got sent away for 4 years just for bringing a replica gun to an AZ State frat party that was part of his clown costume. He ended up serving 7 years cause they forgot he was in their jail system. Be really careful.

Knives don't stab people, cars don't drive drunk, eating utensils don't make you fat and pencils don't mis-spell words.

          This might be a resource

Discuss all things guns, ammunition, optics, gear and accessories, along with firearms training and tactics.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
          (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

            This one as well

We all make choices every day that can impact our future lives.....

The color code of awareness was more important to me in my college days, than CHL.

Each city and school is different.....but every job application asks about arrests.... any arrest with an act of violence or a weapon, tends to be a no go for all big companies......

Best is to ask the Apartment Manager. I doubt any one here lived in that building. Also, check with Campus Police and see if they have any ideas. You are not the first one with guns wanting to attend their university.
