Whats the best way to secure your bedside firearm, without a gun safe? Myself, I keep my bedside Glock sticking out of the top of the drawer of my nightstand so that I may grab it quickly if needed. Once I wake up, I try to remember to place it back into my safe. I sometimes forget to take it back out. Im wondering if anyone has any better ideas?

Lockbox. With a mechanical simplex lock. It's simple, quick and easy. Something like this...

My solution was to keep a dedicated home defense gun in a heavy duty handgun safe that is bolted down. Always available, but secure and nothing to have to remember as far as putting it away.
My gun stays out of reach from any visitors, etc. Hard to do without a good handgun safe. Your method seems to lack consistency and that's a problem. Murphy's Law, you know.

When I leave for work I take a few seconds and put it in the safe it literally takes seconds....seems pretty easyNRA ENDOWMENT LIFE MEMBER

Keep your keys on the safe. When you get your keys, you have to pass by your safe, which should remind you to get your gun and put it there.Comment

I have my Mossberg 12 gauge under my bed within arms reach. I have my car keys next to me. Should I hear signs of an intruder or if the home alarms goes off, I'm triggering the panic alarm on my car. I hope that the intruder then runs away since I'd rather have them leave than to have a shoot out.Comment

I want to make one of those "hidden shelf" nightstands.
Something that can be lifted or pulled quickly, but not easily seen by a snatch and grab thief.
