Assembling portable BLM range

So I have a marketing class with a guy who works in the sales dept at Action Target, and he has offered to sell me all kinds of stuff they have for less than the prices listed on their site.

So my question is this: I'm on the fence about if I should get cheaper stands and cardboard IDPA type targets or if I should get a foam target backer which costs more but is supposed to last for tens of thousands of rounds (assuming I dont use a shotgun).

Anybody have any experience with both and have any suggestions?

I'd go with your first link. More portable etc.

The last stand kit (from Action Target) includes everything visible in the pic, including the rebar.

And standby one, I accidentally inserted the IDPA cardboard link twice. Thats supposed to be a torso shaped gong that will be going with the Last Stand kit.


Edit: not sure whats up with their site, everytime I correct the link it keeps redirecting to the IDPA cardboard page. But on the page for the Last Stand Kit, there are related products. The gongs I'm buying are the torso shaped ones down there.

Just curious, why aren't you taking advantage of this discount for some steel targets? Their Evil Roy line is awesome!

I would think about what happens when your discount goes away? Are you comfortable paying the full price for the foam backers and/or always having to source them through Action Target? Are they available elsewhere? Does that matter to you?

My portable BLM kit uses lightweight and free campaign roadside signs. Shooting democrats is another bonus.

I don't think they call them "evil roy" anymore. I think they call that line "PT Practice Stand."

I've got an evil roy that I bring out to the zombie shoot. It's nice that it folds into a smaller size for storage and transpo, but it's still way heavy. You can find me on the zombie line by looking for a 200yd drag mark in the dirt.

My other target stands include a couple single stands that utilize 2x4s to hold round plates, and I have a few that use 2x2 posts for cardboard targets.

Portable is the name of the game with BLM shooting.

I have a hostage target that I rarely bring out because its way too heavy.

Wow the Last Stand Kit is expensive for what it is. I use canopy coners, 3/4 EMT pipe and eye bolts to hang my steel targets. You could build a few for the price of that Last Stand Kit.

Here's one with a 12" and 6" (IIRC) targets. I also use shaft collars to keep the targets from twisting and moving sideways on the pipe.
