    Quick note to Larry Potterfield

    Dear Larry Potterfield:

Thank you, sir, for creating a great company. Every transaction with your service reps or your website has resulted in my great respect for your business model.

I thank you again for your support of some very enjoyable TV programs. I enjoy any gun subject you choose to present, and lately you have plenty of AR stuff to enjoy--I think a wise choice.

Wait a minute, thank you AGAIN for sending those great catalogs. I read every word on every page within a day or two. #32 was no exception. I drooled. I dreamed. (And, I found some errors both grammatical and technical, so if you need a great proofreader, I'll gladly read your proofs for some schwag!!) I plotted and I planned. I saved some pennies and worked weekends.

Then I got online to place the order. And to my surprise, Larry, EVERY SINGLE ITEM was "out of stock, no backorder".

That meant I had to re-file the great MidwayUSA catalog in the fiction section of my gun library.

Well, Larry, I will continue to sing high praise for your efforts. Good luck with this whole backordered-supplier thingy.

Hilarious. I looked at grips for my GP100 and out of the 7 pages of grips they had listed for it, not 1 item in stock

I'm a huge fan of Larry Potterfield. He taught me how to site in my rifle, keep my lugs cleaned and how to measure the twist rate of my barrel! He's like my firearms daddy (Calguns.net would be my firearms momma).

Yeah I enjoy his programs and I just bought his DVD. I love Midway USA, mainly because of how fast they ship in stock items!

Just placed an order with them a few minutes ago. I wished there was an option to ship the in stock items with the back ordered items when it arrives but since I'm getting a press and reloading supplies I can at least do some prep work before my press comes in (hopefully).

That and it's the only place to go for reloading supplies and gunsmithing tools!

I wrote Larry. Here's my e-mail and his response:

He's a great guy and always responds to all e-mail's.

                  Subject: Where's all the ammo?

                  Larry,

As a happy customer I always look to midway first for my shooting and reloading needs. when can we expect more ammo in the CCI, Federal, Magtech and other brands in more common calibers .380, .38/.357, 9mm, .45ACP, .44? we all know why there is little .223 and .7.62/.308.

This is a major reason I've been buying reloading equipment lately.

Thanks for doing everything you are to support our shooting needs.

                    Ordering from Midway

First off, stuff is back ordered all over, we should all just get used to it or build our own factories and start producing. Business opportunity right?

When ordering from Midway, which I seem to do at least twice a month, only place in stock items in your shopping cart. Order, get the stuff, be happy. Items not in stock that you need should be placed in your Midway Wish List or you can check Brownells, Mid South, Ammoman, Powder Valley etc etc.

Out of stock ordering from Midway . . . If you order one item that is back ordered along with some stuff that is in stock, they will ship the back order when it arrives at their warehouse. You will get the very next item, in order with the other people that placed back orders. But you do incur additional shipping charges for the one item. Same as any other on line place.
If you have multiple items on back order within the same order they will hold all the items in that order until it is all in stock and ship the back ordered items to you in one shipment.
So now and then I place a order that is purposely nothing but back ordered items. I might order ten things that have been in my Wish List for a period of time but always seem to be out of stock. It takes a few weeks, but I get everything I want.

Yeah, I know most of you want it right now. Wah. Times have changed. Larry is a good person, running a good business and that is why he gets most of my business.

I've learned to spread the orders between Grafs, Midway, Brownells, and Widener's. Usually one of the places has what I need. I placed a $350 order for reloading stuff from Grafs a couple of weeks ago. I guess I hit them just at the right time since they had primers, powder, bullets, pretty much what I needed but I did have to do some powder subbing such as 4227 in place of H110.

I got an email from midway Wednesday telling me the stoner ar15 mags i ordered in December finally shipped.

I don't blame Midway for not being able to keep things in stock. It must make Larry crazy to know that he could sell 5 times as much stuff as he is, if he could only get it.

I find the things I want, if not in stock put into my wish wish and check the date the items are due in to Midway. When available, I move them to my cart and make my purchase. Oh yeah I also have them alert me when the items are it. It just takes a little more effort these days. The days of old are..... well old.

I think it speaks volumes about the business practices of a company when the president takes time out of his schedule to try and explain things. I was ordering some things today ( that were on back order as well ) from Brownells but after this post im going to order from Midway. Ive always been happy with Midway but there site takes so long to process and I haven't ordered from them recently. As for the op that was a humorous well written email !
