Steel plate collection, what do you have?

I just built a starter kit.

    3 - 12"x 20" IPSC silhouette in 3/8s on portable stands
    5 - 8" gongs in 3/8s on Shepherd's hooks
    1 - 3/8 steel walking target 4" targets
    1 - 1/4 steel walking target 3" targets

I have an extra stand I wanna buy a big plate for. Thinking 1/4" 16x24 for long range. Undecided.

Also have 1 cardboard target stand. Looking to add 3 more as barricades and close quarter rifle targets. Maybe even a fake wall for impromptu PRS club matches at the range.

One 12x20" silhouette on target stand
One slightly smaller silhouette on target stand
Three 12" rounds hung on Shepard hooks
    One 6" round
    Two 2" rounds
Four cardboard target stands (made myself out of 2x4's)

If I could do it again, I would have a couple more large plates instead of the 12" rounds. They work great, but when trying to acquire targets quickly, they are a little slower than a larger target.

I may also build a budget plate rack with a handful of 6 or 8" rounds bolted across a 2x4

A few of mine. Most are 1/2 in AR500. Buddy has a machine shop and they did some armor for tanks and had some material left over. Way too heavy. But will last forever.

Only one Steel Ops silhouette on a target stand with hostage flipper and two 6” gongs.

The hostage flipper keeps flying off of the stand. Maybe because the stand was positioned on a hill so the uphill shooting angle may have soothing to do with it.

I’m glad all of my shooting friends have steel, too.

We also bring an assortment of wooden cardboard stands.

Oh yea, not heavy steel, but old skill saw blades hung with bailing wire make nice reactive .22 targets.

Maybe y’all can also list where you go to shoot the steel. Like any local ranges that allow personal steel. I can’t seem to find any in the bay area.

We drive to the Nevada desert for three or four day fun fests, maybe one time per year.

        Must return…

Just got the new Champion target stands. Great deal at 28 after coupons.

And lastly, I installed shackles to my gongs to keep the shepherd's hook out of harms way.

              Target man dueling tree

A custom made "popper" made by Ron from Rahuagees.

And a standard sized silhuoette plate with foldable base, that takes a 2x4 from 223targets.

And I'm a smog tech, so i take all the zero air bottles when they are empty (same size as propane tanks) and shoot those up. I must have like 20 of them stored.

Neon on white is so bright. I'd started the rest with some rust preventative I had lying around.

Enough static and reactive AR-500, including six LaRue auto-resets, to fill a 20' Connex. Estimated total value for insurance purposes was in the neighborhood of $12-15K. Used to host a few "hike & shoot" invitational events every year on private property. Hoping to get back to it soon.
