Who said it was started by shooting?

For all we know, it started at the Peckerwood Rod and Gun Club, right next to SP.

A month or so back I went driving around behind SP and there was a very polite and helpful BLM ranger waiting for people and talking to them.

The blaze was burning near an outdoor shooting range west, but no homes or other structures were immediately threatened, according to officials. Gunfire at the range may have sparked the fire, according to reports from the scene.

I doubt the cause is in, and if someone is calling it without direct evidence, its more likely speculation.

Tha actual cause matters not; just the mere suggestion the fire was burning near a firing range/open-to-public shooting area is enough for the news media to call for additional restrictions on shooting.
