Is the desert off limits to go shoot?

I heard that because of fire season you can't start a camp fire or shot in southern California desert is this true

Head out toward California city, Boron. AKC Field trials are held there all the time.

Best advice, go out in the evening and camp overnight, wake up stupid early get your shooting in and bail by 10:00 AM

Not this week, plenty of monsoon clouds rolling in, possible thunderstorms during the day. Whenever I realize my swamp cooler isn't doing the trick I know it's overly humid.
