Mailing an unfinished 80%.

I have a raw 80% and want to ship it to a friend in Virginia. The lower is not finished in any way. Is this legal? Is there an optimal way to ship it?

its a chunk of aluminum ,no issues legally .... drop it in a box with some bubble wrap and call it a day ...

An unfinished lower is just a piece of metal as far as the law is concerned. It isn't a firearm til you drill the holes in it.

Pop it in a USPS priority mail box and you're good to go

As long as you have not done anything to it. Once you start working on it, it becomes 'a firearm in the process of being manufactured' and then you could not ship it to your friend.

USPS has a nice size box that is like it was made for 80%

fun fact,most pipes are unfinished SMG's. it is not a firearm so it is good to ship.
