Hangtown very close to new indoor shooting range

The owners of Mosquito Creek Outfitters in Placerville California have started to build an indoor shooting range. It will be at 1540 Broadway the old " Tire Exchange " building.

" Feature 10 shooting lanes, including two for virtual shooting experiences, along with lanes for archery sports. Thick barriers would separate the two uses. "

" Speakers from the public at the Tuesday meeting urged the commissioners to give the range a green light, with one woman telling the panel that 4-H is seeking to establish a youth gun club locally."

"Mountain Democrat, California's oldest newspaper est. 1851"

Shooting produce and cans in backyard is fun, but having a climate controlled shooting range is a very welcome addition. Wife wants to get rid of winter bowling shoes and buy winter gun case.

Nice!! It's always good to see new places opening, instead of old ones getting shut down.

Congrats, another win. I wish them busy days and safe shooting.

I think this will be great for Placerville. It's encouraging that the planning commission unanimously voted to approve the range and that the Placerville police department has approved it as well.

The grass is always greener, right? Folks in metro areas want to shoot in the great outdoors, and folks in the gold country want an indoor range. Any growth in the gun biz is fine by me. I'll have to see if my relatives up there have heard about it, so they don't have to truck out to the boonies for a warm-up (they're getting on in years).

Looks like it's not even half a mile from 50, too. Had to look it up on street view.

That's great news. i often hear complaints from people up there who are tired of driving to Sacto for an indoor range.

Frenn is probably one of the Bay Area transplants that has been invading our county.

I can't wait for this! We've needed an indoor range here for a long time. I love shooting in the mountains, but Mormon Immigrant is too snowy during the winter to reliabily make it up to some of my favorite spots.

The friendly 2A attitudes are one of the many reasons I just bought a place in Placerville.

Grew up in Placerville. Left after high school. I miss it up there! Good ol' P'ville! Glad they're opening up a range. :-)

                        Any updates?

I've checked the Mosquito Creek Outfitters site, along with their FB and yelp pages, nothing about the range at all, not even a notice about the construction starting.

Try facebook...Hangtown Range not the Mosquito Creek Outfitters.

Stop in 2 weeks ago and noticed a lot of building material outside "Sunday"
Figure they are hard at work inside because the outside still looks like the tire shop.
Stop in today "Saturday" all cleaned up outside but still looks like the tire shop.
Went to Mosquito Creek Outfitters and asked..." will be open in 6 to 8 weeks "
Maybe best to check the facebook page for real updates.
I have no access to building fenced off.

No ****. I have a residence in Placer County. Keep that ****head commissioner of your's over there. I can't stand when democrats ooze out to conservative areas and start their pollution. What a tool.
