I can't wait until they make laser blasters. No ammo hoarding...though batteries might run low.

I've been stocking up on common calibers for some time. When I find some cheap (like Natchez Shooter's Supply Blazer 9mm for $7.49/50) I buy as much as I can.

Wally World is the cheapest off-the-shelf ammo around here, although Sports Authority will sometimes give a quantity discount.

I think there are several reasons for this surge in ammo purchases, especially due to the current regime in power at State and Federal levels. I've been purchasing ammo in quantity for years, and before that components in large lots. I do shoot quite a bit, and I provide shooting lessons for some of my clients in which I provide a weapon and ammo, if needed.

While I think it is a common-sense move to purchase a good supply of ammo, especially if one wants to be prepared for emergencies, I see this situation as being people that are scared of what might happen with our 2A rights. A large body of citizens, well-armed and equipped are exactly what 2A is all about. Guns and ammo are flying off the shelves now, and I think that is a very good thing. To me it indicates people are taking their 2Arights very seriously.

every time I go into a walmart now I swing by and see if they have ammo.

If they do (9mm or 40cal) I grab a couple boxes.

For years every payday its been a bottle of wine and a box of bullets. Started back when I was a laborer out on the construction site around 1998/99.

                Shoot and refill.

I've stopped at the Walmart here in Hanford a couple times and the cupboards were bare. The last time all they had left was 2 boxes of 30.06 and I took them so they were really out.
Had a number of boxes of .22LR so I took a couple of those too. I don't even own a .22 but I wanted to help hype the hysteria.

Sometimes I'm out of wine but I'm never out of ammo

i hoarded today. took all 7 remaining federal bulk 550 .22LR. and i'll be sure to use them weekly.

not to defend jazman, but i did 'share' one time when someone's wife was buying all the 7.62x39 ammo for her husband as instructed. i was there first and was going to take them all. but i decided to share it, and she shared with another guy 3rd or 4th in line. maybe that was a good thing since my bill minus the 7-8 boxes of 7.62 was already almost $500. hubby or wife was close to home, visited his bakery and even got some free pandesal. i guess it paid to be a little neighborly.

would i do that regularly. probably not. cuz i'm using them and i hate going back and forth constantly, especially with wally world where you have to regularly visit to get the ammo. case in point, i saw plenty, PLENTY, of .40 white winchesters one afternoon. decided to think about it. came back next day around lunch... all gone...

i think i'm at 1.4k or so in just under 3 weeks at wally world. not counting all my ammoman and sportsmanguide purchases for ammo. :P

Part of what is happening is more people are interested in shooting. The club I belong to used to get 2 or 3 people a month to our $10 public shooting sessions. Now it is sometimes 20 or 30. people sometimes have to wait for a point to open up.

Lots more people in our safety classes as well. Was usual for a class to have maybe 10 people in it. Now a 25 person class is not unheard of.

Also, I think a lot of gun owners are shooting more. Our organized shooting activities are seeing a lot more attendance as well.

Walmart is stocking as much as they can get because they can sell it all. They are not holding back.

In any case, it is not up to you to decide how much ammo is "enough" for someone else.

I was at WalMart on Wednesday. I was looking for a couple boxes of 9mm WWB 100 packs. They had 4, so I bought 2. Replaced what I shot last time out plus a box. I am currently working my way back up to number I think I should have on hand.

Only one time you can actually have too much ammo, while swimming.

Back when 9mm WWB Value Pack used to be $10.41 I'd buy 5 boxes every payday for like $56 with tax. Got up to about 3000 rds. Was practicing and shooting IDPA for a while and used a bunch up. Been shooting my AR10 lately so I still have about 1k left. I think my inventory of ammo has trippled in value while my 401k has lost 50% in the same period. Just sold a Yugo M59/66 to my brother. He orderd a couple hundred rounds of wolf for about 40 cents per round. Bumbed him out when I told him I paid $85 shipped for the first case of wolf I bought from Cabelas when I originally purchased the rifle.

you sounded alittle sarcastic with that statement. I belive Obama and Eric Holder are looking into the most stringent gun control they can get away with without being boo ed by thier constituents
