    Options for Dry Fire Practice

Ive been looking at the SIRT 110 and some Laserlyte targets, but the price is kind of eye gouging. Then the IR version from Telluric group. 400$~

Researched some more, found the Dry fire mag for Glocks and also some random drop in resetting triggers. And also looked into some airsoft stuff. $100-200~

What do you guys use for dry fire? I want a system that closely replicates a glock trigger to help compound my training with live fire.

I wouldn't mind spending, if it actually helped progress my shooting ability.

    Thanks,
    Andre

Multiple trigger presses with a sirt pistol wont replicate tracking the front sight after the gun normally would have discharged, nor will it replicate recoil. Im also not a fan of the SIRT style where people tend to look at the laser. Your focus should remain on the front sight. You wont see where your rounds are hitting after they pass through a shirt in the same way that youll see whwre the laser hit on a target in your living room. The majority of what i do for dry fire is with a-zoom snap caps.

    Presentations
    Reloads ( 1 & 2 handed)
Malfunction clearances (2 and 1 handed)
1 handed strong/other-strong-handed side trigger presses
    Transitions from/to rifle
    Magazine exchanges
    White light / Under NVG's

I have those little circle stickers that come on shoot-n-c targets pasted on my walls in various spots

Doing all that and adding in simultaneous movement and various garments depending on the forecast of the year. Occasionally, use a chair or if you have a garage, from locked seatbelt in your vehicle. Practice with magazines that are full of snapcaps. While not exactly the same weight, itll replicate a full mag somewhat.

    BE SAFE

For handguns the target doesn't really do much aside from just adding a bit of novelty.

Get the laser and concentrate on breaking the shot. You want to see a dot instead of a streak, and you want the dot to land in the same place every time.

thanks yall, I dry fire with snap caps currently. I just hate that I can't practice shooting off a reset or doing follow up shots etc.

Why can't you it's not that hard to do. Break your shot (so to speak) hold the trigger back while you work the slide, or have someone else work the slide. Allow the trigger to reset.

That's how I've always done it. I wanted to practice on multiple targets without breaking grip.

You could always shoot UTM's if you have a basement or dont live near other people

Barrel Blok is a great way to go!

There is also a reseting training trigger for the Glock 17 you can install..but that defeats the idea of training with the gun you fight with, while the barrel blok does that.

You will have to manually reset the trigger by running the slide.

                      ^^^ This.

You should start with the dry fire books (Steve Anderson, Ben Stoeger, etc.) to get the idea of how dry fire complements the live fire, what your training goals with dry fire are, how it works with muscle memory and alike. Once you understand the principles, you'll just need the properly sized targets and a *timer* (the most important part).

The central thought in dry fire is that you're working on the aspects of shooting that are the same in dry and live fire - you draw the same, index the same, acquire and recognize the sight picture the same, pull the trigger the same. The difference is that *after that* one goes "bang" and the other doesn't, but all the work has already been done by that time.
