    Oregon handgun transport.

In Aug I'll find myself in Oregon for a few days. I do not have a permit that allows me to carry in the state. From this site http://www.oregonfirearms.org/faq I founds most of my answers except where to find the following.
Is there a list of the localities that have different restrictions?
I'm not going to be in Portland but the Salem area. Any one who lives in Oregon or travels there a lot have some insight? I plan on having my handgun locked up, but the loaded magazine issue concerns me. Thanks.

You could ask here and see if they know...

Buy, sell, and trade firearms free in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. Join thousands of gun owners in the Northwest's largest firearm community.

The cities that restrict carry for those without an Oregon CHL are listed here http://www.oregonfirearms.org/chl-ce...ocal-gun-codes

If possible try to obtain a non-resident Oregon CHL. If you have one you can open or concealed carry regardless of local laws. Look for info in this subforum http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/f...play.php?f=378
          Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

            From the Salem city code:

            95.095. Loaded Firearms.
            (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to possess a loaded firearm, whether the shell or cartridge is a blank or is live ammunition, while in a public place as defined in ORS 161.015.
            (b) Nothing in subsection (a) shall apply to:
            (1) A law enforcement officer in the performance of official duty.
            (2) A member of the military in the performance of official duty.
            (3) A person licensed to carry a concealed handgun.
            (4) A person authorized to possess a loaded firearm while in or on a public building under ORS 166.370.
            (5) A government employee or contractor of the City of Salem engaged in flight safety
hazard abatement to comply with Chapter 14 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 139.337 at McNary Field. (Ord No. 29-96; Ord No. 54-05)
That is all the Salem city code has to say. There is nothing about magazines have to be unloaded. So follow Oregon state law on unloaded for the rest.

My research shows that hand guns must not be readily accessible and locked. If using a key lock, the key must not be left in the lock. If you follow CA law on transportation, you will likely be fine. If you want to be extra careful, keep magazines unloaded and separate.

It looks as if Salem would be the first city going up I-5 that you could not have an openly carried gun in your car.

Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

Thank you all. I will only be there a few days not enough time to deal with getting the Oregon non-resident permit. Going to go see the Ellipse. Doubt I'll be back there again in my lifetime.
