Where to go shooting in Reno?
Tags: None -
For an indoor range, I've been here to shoot: https://www.renoguns.com/
Nice place but only 25 yards. After shooting a must go is to Scheels sporting goods. Unbelievable place with huge firearms section. -
Most of Washoe County is closed to BLM shooting. The Washoe County Range is great, so is the Carson City Range. They just had a big fire up there caused by shooting, so expect the man to be on the prowl for shooters who are in the desert where they shouldn't be.For Sale: Off Roster Handgun Moving Sale

Not yet, the only restrictions are for "congested areas". I wake up to the sound of gunfire all around me every weekend. Plenty of areas to shoot, just pay attention to the regulations and look on the Washoe County website for maps of approved shooting areas.

The two best choices have already been mentioned. For an indoor range, Reno Guns and range is one of the best in Nevada or California. It's new and clean, well-lit and well-ventilated, with a large selection of rentals. Great place to bring the family. Only problem is it's a little small compared to some California ranges; usually that's not a problem (this is Reno, not San Diego), but it doesn't take many shooters to fill it up.
For outdoor shooting the Carson Range is great. It's run by Carson City County and is free to use!
Washoe County runs its own range out by Pyramid Lake. It's not free like the Carson Range, but it's a nice enough outdoor range. I've only used it for training classes.
Reno is of course surrounded by open desert, but holy cow I would be very careful about shooting out there unless you have fire extinguishers and shovels; fire danger is extremely high. And unlike the deserts in SoCal (where I am from), the vegetation in Northern Nevada is pretty dense and so it's easier to start a fire.
For any outdoor shooting, even at Carson Range, you need to bring your own shade and water.Originally posted by cockedandglockedGetting called a DOJ shill has become a rite of passage around here. I've certainly been called that more than once - I've even seen Kes get called that. I haven't seen Red-O get called that yet, which is very suspicious to me, and means he's probably a DOJ shill.Comment
