    Dedicated Shooters! WOW!

110 degrees and there where shooters out at Hodge this afternoon! According to my wife, they had their pop up shade covers and where blasting away! I about died Saturday and it was only 93 at the range!

I shot the long range match at Avenal Sunday, which requires a lot of hiking with a 680 ft. change in elevation, etc. It nearly killed me. But I won the match, so I'm happy.

Come out to Octillo today if you can take 120 degrees. It's so hot you need gloves for a rifle you haven't shot yet. The guns might shoot themselves.

                Going to Raahauge's on Saturday.
Forecast is for 93 which is not bad.
Will probably hit 105+ in July and August. ...

You should visit Kingsburg this week, the ATA California State Shoot is going on right now and thousands of shooters out shooting in 100+ degrees heat.

my neighbors look at me funny when i do yard work on 100+degree days, going shooting on those days sounds perfect to me.
But I was raised in Needles, CA. long before Air Conditioning was a regular thing in houses.

I worked in a power plant out in the desert for 30+ years. When it was broke, you worked on it until it was fixed, no matter what the temperature was. Now, I am older and will retreat to my AC and TV when it gets much above 90.

I think I heard this morning at the Dillman Range (Lincoln) that they would be shutting down if/when the temperature got to 105. It's likely they don't want some old guy dying out there from heat stroke or a heart attack.

The last time I practiced with the Coalinga service rifle team for a trip to Camp Perry it was 112.Its amazing what a target does to the brain, you only focus on the aiming black to make accurate shots.Sure you know its warm ,but theres nothing that can be done about it.
