Brand new they're equivalent to IIIa armor but weights like twice as much.

You're serious? I was pretty sure that flak vests, when new, were still only good for fragmentation.

On a side note, go read www.bulletproofme.com for a very good initial orientation as to threat levels, coverage, etc.

However, I have to tell ya... you're not gonna get a cheap deal on armor that fits you anywhere. Heck, I can't even get deals on armor that fits me well. But a lot of places have small Interceptors on sale...
