    Moving to Nevada

My wife and I will be getting a divorce and I will be moving to Nevada.
    1. How long does it take to establish residency to by a firearm?
    2. Are certain counties easier to by silencers and machine guns legally?
    3. How easy is it to get a ccw in the Reno area?

    Residency:

    CCW:
Take the class, complete the paperwork, pay the fees, wait.

      get your NV license first

be sure to have your old license, birth certificate, social security card, and 2 documents to prove your residency, i.e. utility bills, cable bill - im not sure if they'll accept a rental agreement, don't think so but you can always call, they are much easier to get on the phone versus CA DMV

then, as Adidas said, take the class, take you paperwork to the local PD, wait to get your CCW

also, you don't have to list firearms that you'll use for concealed carry - all the firearms you own are gtg

as far as Reno, i don't think they have any different criteria or restrictions than the rest of the state - Las Vegas used to have a few ordinances but they were ruled null and void in 2015

just be sure you know where you can and can't legally carry a firearm in the State - establishments that do have a "No Gun" sign can ask you to leave if they notice you armed

i've never bought a silencer or machine gun here, and i don't know what the law is, i do believe you need to obtain a stamp for both

CCW is issued by a Washoe County Sheriff's Office here. So take a class (at Scheels for example $75) then pay another $100 to county. Submit fingerprints and application by walk in. All NFA items can be purchased by visiting any of the class 3 dealers here ( Reno Guns And Range is the most up to date on it ). They will explain to you the whole process, suggest a trust or individual, etc.
Go to DMV first to get your license, then buy NFA items in 6 month.

          1. However long it takes for you to secure a NV residence, then go to a NV DMV and surrender your CA DL for a NV DL.

          2. No.

          3. Take NV CCW class from an approved Washoe County Sheriff Department NV CCW instructor, then submit a NV CCW application with fees to the Washoe County Sheriff Department, and then wait for NV CFP to arrive in mail.

Washoe County is very slow in issuing CCW. The WCSO almost always takes the entire allowable time (120 days) plus a few more days to mail the permit.

Note Washoe and Clark (where Las Vegas is, for the rest of Calguns) were the blue voting NV states in 2016.

my clark county ccw took the entire prescribed processing period. by paying a few bucks more my nv class also qualified me for a utah ccw, which was processed in half the time. a utah ccw covers alot more states. do yourself a favor and get both.
