Intra-Familial Firearm Transaction question regarding date

    Hey Calgun's,

Does anyone know what the actual date stamp from DOJ for these transfers are? Reason I'm asking is I transferred a BB M&P-15 to my son in November 2016 thinking this would be my last chance for him to have a BB gun for him to register/featureless later. We got confirmation in January 2017 of completion from DOJ. I have a copy of the form filled out and cashed check from DOJ that they did in fact cashed in in November 2016. So my question is do they go by the date of application or letter they send back to you?

Rifle is currently featureless as we speak. But wanted to know what his options are if he decided to convert/reg in the future.

    Thanks!

As it pertains to assault weapons registration, it is unknown.

As it pertains to reporting the transfer, it goes by the date the new owner mailed/transmitted the information.

I was asking pertaining to reporting the Intra-Familial transfer.

In that case he should be good whether he wants to keep it featureless or BB with an option to register when that time comes if he wanted.

      Thank you!
