Anyone else think that Cabela's packaging sucks?

I love the gift card/AJ stacking from Cabela's but get pretty tired of the awful packing jobs they do. Half the time their flimsy shipping boxes are split open and yesterday the .45 ACP that arrived was wrapped in a piece of bubble wrap and put in a box 3x too large. It slid all around and one of the boxes busted up inside. Something tells me these aren't safe to shoot...

Just waiting not to hear back from CS.

Target Sports double boxes. Everything is perfect when it arrives.

lol, funny you post this. i wish i took a pic but i received 3500 rounds of 556 from them earlier this year when they had a big sale. they shipped it in 5 boxes of varying size. each box had ammo rolling around in it and the boxes were basically folded together to make smaller boxes from larger pieces of cardboard.

they seriously skimp out on packaging but the good news is that i had all my ammo so i wasnt too annoyed.

they ship powder and primers very well.

this time around, I got 5000 rounds of 9mm in adhesive bubble wrap and over size boxes. it survived, but not idea.

Do you pay state sales tax upon pick up? Does UT charge sales taxes?

Cabela's shipping is a joke. The more expensive the item the worse the packaging: The inverse is also true. I bought a $1500 pair of Zeiss binoculars from them. It came in a box that was way bigger than the binocular box (~7x). It had 2 crumpled up pieces of paper to help pad it. The funny thing is it had two people's names on the packaging. I guess a supervisor had to sign off on the high prices item.

Must be bad luck because my items always come nicely packaged.

Yes my Cabelas ammo shipping boxes always arrive split open and barely holding on to the contents.

lol, almost the exact same as my last shipment minus the other 4 random sized boxes and i got the imi israeli stuff. not joke, i had 127 rounds in one box. i added everything up though and not one round was missing!

i almost think they make these boxes on purpose to look as jacked as possible to dissuade theft. i pull a similar stunt at christmas when i wrap presents. make it look as jacked as possible.

I've had good experiences lol They always double tape the ammo with packing tape so there's really no way the boxes can open and then they still those big bubble sheets inside.

I've been ordering from Cabela's for many years with no problems. In fact, my experience has been they have the best boxes and wrapping and everything gets to me in perfect condition. I have had bad packaging from Palmetto and Freedom Munitions. Palmetto seems to be getting better as of late. FM is so bad I'm not ordering from them anymore unless it's a can't pass up deal.
