Just a reminder that Bass Pro Shops has acquired Cabela's. So, when BPS completes the acquisition, it probably means Cabela's will start charging sales tax on California shipments. Just don't know when that will happen.

Once Cabela's becomes part of Bass Pro, they will be considered to have a presence in California due to the existing Bass Pro shops in the state. Besides, you should be paying your California Use Tax on purchases from Cabela's when you file your state income taxes.
Poor illegal aliens are depending on you.

I get that but two different names even though one owner may not entitle them to do so. Either way I stopped buying from both after watching their stores multiply yet their prices skyrocket. Bigger generally means buying power hence their names on most everything they sell. They are controllers of the makers. Or something like that.Once Cabela's becomes part of Bass Pro, they will be considered to have a presence in California due to the existing Bass Pro shops in the state. Having spoken with a manager from our local Cabelas here, BPS and Cabelas will continue to be operated as separate business units, with only the holding company being kept in common. The idea being that BPS is going to remain their "lower end" and Cabela's the "higher end/retail experience/destination" store. Cabelas to be somewhat more gun and hunting oriented, BPS to be more toward fishing, in particular the non-fly-fishing side. They want to bring both stores closer to their "roots" which would separate the markets that each serves somewhat.
How this plays out in terms of tax requirements is anyone's guess."Mr. Rat, I have a writ here that says you are to stop eating Chen Lee's cornmeal forthwith. Now, It's a rat writ, writ for a rat, and this is lawful service of same!"Comment
