          Im gonna tally everything up
COBRAY M-11/9 STEN MAG WELL RECEIVER WELD SET - FTF industries -$115
CC-24 SIDE FLATS COBRAY SIDE FLATS ( PAIR ) - cobray company $52.50
NEW M11/9 9mm SEMI AUTO PARTS SET (with barrel)
(SET Includes NEW CNC Machined Internals & Bolt Assy.)
(Includes Machined STEN Mag Catch & Grip for STEN MAG WELL) -$325.00

Ok, I bought the weld-up kit and the side plates...
Does someone sell the complete upper without threads?

Check the Cobray link. You can order one with a threadless barrel. It's listed as a Post Ban kit.

                    this place has them. http://www.tickbitesupply.com/mpa.html

or you can buy a thread protector from ftf for $10 and put a weld on the bottom. they have the cheapest kits and adding it may be cheaper and easier than buying the individual parts from different places. i had to buy parts to build a .45 cal mac 10 from 4 different places. it was a lot easier to just buy a kit with all the parts so you know they are all there.

I'm really interested in making one of these. My dad has like 3000 rounds of .45 reloads and would probably pay at least half of the cost to build one. We are both mechanically inclined and he owns a mig welder. I'm still kind of confused on each of the things i need to order. I click on the links but there are so many things its hard to figure out. I assume it would still be legal if you put one of those safety devices that look like a suppressor.
Anyone in San Diego have one of these or would be willing to help me?
                      Thanks

i havent built one yet, but i will. From what i gather they arent too hard to put together if youre halfway competant at welding. I guess i'll figure it out when i get to it

i stumbled across this old thread. So, if you buy an SMG parts kit instead of a semi auto by accident, will it not weld up with the plates from cobray or is it just illegal to do?

The SMG kit is the upper receiver, not the weld up lower.

There is a new ergo grip/magwell in the works for the M11/9. It will use standard Glock mags. The backstrap was modded "straight" and the angle changed to a more 1911 like grip angle.

Do you guys use any spacer or possibly the upper receiver as a mandrel when welding the lower together? how critical are the dimensions? Will the weld kit pretty much line itself up on its own?
