One of my favorite cop shows from the 90s was Homicide: Life on the Street. One of the protagonists was Det. Pembleton played by Andre Braugher. He had a theory when asked by Det. Falsone played by Jon Seda. Falsone asked Pembleton why people think that they could get away with murder. The percentages are stacked against you when you think you can kill someone and get away with it. Det. Pembleton's reply:

"Crime makes you stupid."

Pretty good theory if you ask me.

During the early 80"s I worked Em's at Lynwood Sheriff's Station. That area had Watts to the north and Compton on the south. That was a great training station where you learned more in a year than in a career at most other stations.

My Best Bud, spent 5 yrs in custody. Then went to Lennox for training. He said same as you. And wouldn't trade the experience he gained for anything. He's now 20 yrs on and a Detective.

Yes, some a lot worse than others. Especially those in Leftist Enclave cities like Detroit and Ch!tcago.

40 murders in ChiRaq last week means 30 will get away with it.

Sam Harris had some interesting commentary regarding thus in one of his podcasts where he discussed how in the most politically, economically, and socially powerless communities violence becomes a commodity and a power structure is created predicated on the willingness and ability to engage in violence.

Or the shooter was a 3rd striker. Nothing to lose by shooting.
